The Ending of Breaking Bad

Following last weeks disappointing ending of Dexter, this week, the show Breaking Bad by AMC has come to an end. To say the least, the fans are pleased. The following paragraphs will contain spoilers.

Lets start with some backstory, then to the ending it self. This season brought out the true grit of all the characters. We saw Walter kill Mike (The lovable killer grampa), we saw Todd (AKA Meth Damon) kill a  mere child, we saw Jack and his gang ( The Nazi's) kill 8 imprisoned men in seconds. This season, has not failed to please.

The first half of the season ended with Hank (Brother of Walt) realizing that the cook of the infamous 96.6% pure methamphetamine creator, Heisenberg, is indeed his brother Walt. Hank rushes to his garage, to investigate, and puts all the pieces together. All he needs, is a witness to testify. Jesse, another loveable character, soon finds out that his trusty partner had poisoned his girlfriends son, and without hesitation, attempts to burn down the house of Walter and his family.

Hank, who was watching the house, makes a timely intervention, and finds the witness he needed. Jesse admits to everything, and Hanks discovery will soon be made public. Jesse figures out a way to lure Walter to his money stash deep into the desert, giving them the hard evidence Hank requires.

Jesse gives Walter a phone call, saying that they are at his secret location, and they're going to burn all his money. Jesse provides to threaten to burn, and sends Walter a photo of piles of cash burning in the desert. Little does Walter know that the money being burnt is Jesse's money, as Jesse does not care about money, after the killing of the child, he has been drowning in guilt. Jesse says that if Walter hangs up, his money will be all in flames.

Walter arrives to see that all of his money is in tact, and nobody is there. He immediately calls his acquaintance Jack, and tells them to come to his Co-Ordinates, to kill Jesse.
Instead of Jesse arriving, out comes Hank, with his Partner Gomez, and Jesse.
Walter calls Jack, and tells them not to come, that he had changed his mind. He does this as he does not want his brother, Hank, to die.

Hank proceeds to arrest Walter, and just as they're about to drive him to the DEA office, Jack and the Nazi's show up.When Walter sees there cars pull up, he begins to scream in his cuffs, begging Jack not to engage into battle with Hank. Jack and his gang, pull out there weapons and slaughter Hank and Gomez, while Jesse is in the car.

The Nazi's realize, that the coordinates they were given was for something special, so they begin to dig. They soon come across 8 barrels filled with money, totalling over 80 million dollars. Jake takes 7 barrels, uncuffs Walter, takes Jesse, and leaves Walter for dead.

Luckily Walter comes across a car, after hours of rolling his barrel across the desert, and buys it for a few hundred thousand.

Maree (Hanks Wife) has gone to tell Skylar (Walters Wife) that Walter is in custody, and Hank has arrested him. When Walter returns home, they both assume the worst, Hank is dead. Walter quickly takes them home, and is planning on disappearing to Alaska with his two children and Skylar, though Skylar is so upset at Walters behaviour, she attacks him with a knife.

Walter Jr, calls the police on Walter, and he makes a quick escape, but also kidnaps his daughter, Holly. After he is a safe distance away, he goes outside to a public telephone, and gives Skylar a call, the police are recording the call.

The scene is very powerful, so I recommend watching it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lzbYKM8UCw

For those who can't watch it, the call is harsh and brutal. Walter calls Skylar many rude things, and while doing so, he appears to be crying. The purpose of the call was to wipe Skylar of all charges, as she was laundering money for him, lines such as:
"Hell, you don't even know what I do" - " What do you even know about what I do? Its me, me alone" -  "Walt, you have to stop this, its illegal, someone is going to get hurt" - "You tell my son what I do? After I told you to keep your damn mouth shut, you stupid b*tch." - "I warn you, tow the line, or you will wind up just like Hank".

This clears Skylar from all charges, as it is recorded evidence, and it proves she had no affiliation with Heisenberg ( Walters evil side.)
The power of this scene, is tremendous, and only some viewers of Breaking bad will understand.
Heisenberg is talking on the phone, insanely, almost proudly at his actions.
Though Walter White is on the other side, crying, wishing that he had acted differently, he made sacrifices for his family, so they could be well off, but now he has nothing.

Walter proceeds to leave their baby at a fire department, with a note saying the address to deliver her to.
A lot happens in between that I didn't say, so I'm just focusing on the main parts of the story.

Walter makes a dash to Alaska, and there he calls Walter Jr at his school, saying that he is going to give him 11 million dollars for his birthday, which he will send to his friends house, he is told to spend this money for the family.
Walter Jr replies with yelling at him, and expressing his hate for Walter over the phone. The police soon swarm the place he called in Alaska, but he was long gone, he was coming home.

When he gets home, he buys a Large Machine Gun, loaded with around 100 or more bullets, and we see him working on a mechanism in the desert. This mechanism seems to bring open a rotating stand for which the machine gun will sit on, when he presses the button on his car keys.

He returns home, and manages to say one last goodbye to Holly, and his wife, who is surprisingly upset that Walter is in such a damaged state. Walter knew that even if the Nazi's didn't kill him, his lung cancer would.

Night arrives, and Walter goes into the base of the Jack and his gang, the Nazi's. Jesse is also being held as a captive here, being forced to cook 96.6% pure meth, he is the only cook with the skill of Walter. Walter parks his car right next to there main building, were they all hang out, and watch TV, even though he was asked to park it.

They escort him inside, and tell him he shouldn't have returned. Walter proposes a business deal, he recieves one barrel, and he teaches Todd, how to cook 100% pure methanphatamine, without the use of the main ingredient, methalamine (which is very expensive).

They refuse the offer, as they have 70 Million dollars, and they proceed to make him kneel, and they are about to kill him.

"You owe me". Three words that changed the scenario, Jack asks Walter how he owes him, Walter replies with:
"You were meant to kill him, he is your partner now, liar".
Jack laughs, as they've been torturing Jesse. He is also insulted, and demands they bring Jesse to the living room. The moment Jesse is not surrounded by guards, Walter tackles him down, as if he is trying to kill him. Todd comes to pull off Walter, then Walter hits the button on his car keys. The result is displayed in a gif:

The trunk opens, to reveal the Large machine Gun, it starts to turn around on the spot, and fires madly:

Everyone in the house is slaughtered, except Walter, who takes one bullet to the thigh, and Todd, who is soon after strangled by Jesse.

Jesse pulls up a gun on Walter, and Walter begs Jesse to shoot him. Jesse realizes he has had enough of this, and tells Walter to do it himself. He walks off, gets into a car, and rides off. His expressions of sadness and pure joy are unbelievably heart warming.

Walter is already shot, and is bleeding out, he decides to walk up to the meth lab in the Nazi Base, and say goodbye, to his old and only true friends. He soon falls to the ground, dead, and all of the police surrounded him.

This ending, was truly stunning. I was close to tears, as Walter drained out of blood, lying next to the things that made him who he was, and the things that brought him to his death. The soundtrack was purely amazing, I have no words to describe this ending but 10/10.

Goodbye Walter White.

Grand Theft Auto V - Review

I am not one to judge my games quickly, and after a week of playing 'Grand Theft Auto V' by Rockstar, I have come to my conclusions. The Grand Theft Auto games are always surrounded by a bit of controversy, and GTA V was no exception. I will cover all the aspects of the game in the following review.

GTA V is different to the other GTA games, you play as 3 different characters, all with their specialities and perks. Franklin, a 'hood thug' meets Michael, a retired bank robber, and soon, Michael gets the taste of blood, and is redrawn into the world of crime. The game is all about heists, you can plan, and execute your own heists, each one being more epic then the one before. After the first heist, the game skips to the desert of Sandy Shores, were you meet the great psychopath, Trevor. Trevor is no doubt, a character which will never be forgotten.

Trevor is out of control, and a chaos machine. After the heist, Trevor sees the details about it on the news, and realizes that the person who had done this, must be Michael, his old partner, who had been allegedly dead for years.

In an unfortunate turn of events, these characters get thrown together, and all hell breaks loose.
The characters find themselves in situations where they must work with and under various people, in order to get what they want.

The next few paragraphs will have spoilers.

The game is inexplicably hilarious. The characters have stunning one liners, and the storyline takes twists that no-one could imagine. Trevor even goes as far as falling in with the wife of a mob boss ( who is around 60), and proceeds to kidnap her and proceeds to use her as his 'mother'.

The games heists are one of the best features, they all turn out differently, and all require preparation. No mission in this game is tedious, with 69 main missions, and hundreds of things to do in this game, it is well worth your pennies.

Right before the game ends, the trio go for 'the big one', a robbery of the Union Bank, never been successfully hit before. After the heist, each character ends with 20-25 Million dollars. I was surprised to find how quickly you can use up your money, I found that I spend 5 million in a few seconds, and would have blown away all my money, if I hadn't stopped to think about what I was doing. You can spend your money on everything from cars, property and stocks, to tattoos, clothes and women.

The game has three endings, all in the eyes of Franklin. He has the choice to kill Michael or Trevor, or choose 'death-wish'. Naturally, nobody wants to kill any of the main characters, they are all so special and fun, especially Trevor with his psychopathic off-the-hook junkie attitude.

Now onto the gameplay. Everyone was sceptical about having three main characters, but I have to say it has been executed perfectly. During missions, you can switch between different characters, as they are all doing something else to contribute to the objective. In one kidnapping mission, I had Michael rappel down a building, while Trevor kept a steady helicopter and Franklin provided sniper cover. I was smoothly switching between the three, especially if I got tired of doing the one action, which I didn't.

If you switch between the characters while free roaming, you get a glimpse of what they were doing before-hand. I could switch to Michael, and he is riding a bike with his son. I could switch to Franklin, and he's feeding his dog. I could switch to Trevor, and he is lying on the ground in a bikini, passed out, with a hundred dead bodies around him. Each time you switch, the thing you see will be unlike before, if switching to Trevor, you will have something hilarious coming up, whether its him tying someone down, and throwing tacos at them, or whether he is escaping from a high speed chase from the police.

Now to the controversy surrounding the game. This game has been said to be misogynistic, brutal and it has said to encourage people to do crimes. One of the most controversial missions, is where you have to torture a middle-eastern man, for a government official. Your character does it willingly, with a lot of enjoyment. The middle eastern man is happily giving up his information, and begging for you to stop, though you continue to pull out his teeth, electrocute him, break his legs, drown him and more.

The game might be slightly misogynistic, but all is meant in good humour. The women are all displayed as worthless, annoying and ungrateful. They do not contribute to the game in anyway (except for a few selected women).

I disagree that the game is a cause of violence. It possible could be, but it is rated R18+ for a reason, it is not intended for anyone under the age.
It is rated with:
High Impact Drug Use.
Strong Violence.
Strong Coarse Language.
Strong Sexual References.
Nudity.
Strong Sex scenes.
Strong Themes.

For people to purchase this game, they require identification, so children can not easily get there hands on it.

I give this game a 10/10. It is easily one of the best games I have ever played, it is the second most expensive form of media to be created, costing 265 Million dollars to make. It is also the most sold video game in history, it made 1 Billion dollars in the first 3 days.

I recommend this game to all players, the online function has not been released yet, and will be up for free to all the owners of the game October 1st.

The Ending of Dexter

Monday night displayed the God-Awful end to the show Dexter. The following paragraphs will contain spoilers.

During this season, Dexter bonded closely with Dr. Vogel, who he would see as a mother. While this was happening, there was some madness happening down at Miami Metro, with a new crazed serial killer known as the brain surgeon, who would saw off the back pieces of peoples brains, then proceed to remove the gland which makes them feel empathy. That is the trade of a psychopath, They cannot feel empathy.

The Brain Surgeon started to send the offcuts of the brain to Doctor Vogel, for an unknown reason. Dexter seeing this as a threat, took out the brain surgeon.

While this is going on, Dexter has taken on a protege, someone quite like him, who he will teach the code to.

Right after, Hannah Mckay, Dexter's ex-girlfriend, returns to him. She is wanted by the police, and Dexter was the one who 'snitched' on her. She loves him nonetheless, and Dexter finds emotions with her he has never felt before, and he decides that he should live another life with her. After being re-united with her, his urge to kill has died down, and now he plans to move to Argentina with her.

Alas, there are complications. One day, Dexter comes home to see his protege, dead on his home table. Though, the protege has had the back of his head removed, with great precision, just as the brain surgeon would have. After finding some DNA of his, he does a scan in the Miami Metro database, and it shows that the DNA belongs to the son of Doctor Vogel.

Dexter is assuring Dr. Vogel he needs to kill The Brain Surgeon, but the Dr. Vogel is now infatuated with his son, and would not allow it to happen. Dexter soon chases down The Brain Surgeon, and to make an example, The Brain surgeon slits his own mothers throat (Doctor Vogels) in front of him.

Dexter having had met Hannah, he had his 'Dark Passenger' (need for kill) died down, and he felt pure emotion for her death. He needed revenge.

He managed to chase down The Brain Surgeon, and he strapped him to his chair, as if he was going to kill him. Before the knife was plunged deep into his chest, Dexter realized he didn't have to kill, and as The Brain Surgeon was a wanted man, there was another way of doing this.

Dexter left the room with The Brain Surgeon still there, he called his sister Deborah Morgan, who is also a detective at Miami Metro. She came into to arrest him, while Dexter was about to board the plane to Argentina with Hannah and Harrison (his son).

The Brain Surgeon had found a way to untie himself with the help of an innocent stranger, who he soon killed. When Deborah came in to arrest him, he shot her.

Dexter can't make it to his flight, but Hannah and Harrison get on board, and they agree to meet eachother there. Deborah is alive, and will be well, she just needs some crucial surgery. Meanwhile, a terrible storm is rising in Miami. Dexter decides he must kill The Brain Surgeon before he leaves, as it is to much of a risk to let him live.

The Brain Surgeon comes to the hospital were Deborah is located, holds Dexter gunpoint, and is about to fire. Immediately a fellow detective interferes, and The Brain Surgeon is now in custody. Dexter is enraged, and devises a plan to kill him in his cell. He goes to take some of his DNA for testing purposes and he whispers that he is going to kill Saxon with a pen he had on the table. Alarmed, Saxon grabs the pen, stabs the pen into Dexter's shoulder, Dexter pulls it free, and as an act of 'self-defence', plunges it deep into the Jugular vein of The Brain Surgeon.

Dexter returns to the hospital to find out the Deborah's surgery went wrong. Best case scenario she will be a paraplegic, and won't be able to think any more. Dexter once again enraged, pulls her out of the hospital, and simply walks out the doors holding her. He gets on his boat, and takes it to his usual kill spot, and throws her into the water.

This was a really emotional scene, and much could have been done with it, but they proceeded to ruin it in the next few scenes.

The storm was very strong now, and Dexter decides that he is a danger to everyone, and the best thing he could do for Hannah and Harrison, is to remove himself from the equation. This is followed by a call of 'I love you', though it does not hint that he is going to commit suicide. Dexter drives into the storm, and the scene ends.

It shows the shipwreck, and all over the news it shows that Dexter has been killed, it skips to Hannah, and it shows her crying. The show proceeds to 'end'.

Just when everyone thinks its over, it starts up again and it shows a lumber mill. It shows a person afar who looks like Dexter, walking into an office. This is what we all hoped for, a little sneak of what kind of monster Harrison would turn out to be. But no, it is Dexter. We see him sitting at a desk, with a sad solemn face in his eyes.

He did not make the ultimate sacrifice, he decided to live as a Lumber Jack. Like seriously, a Lumber Jack. They could have not thought of anything better?
The ending was terrible, it hints somethings that the producers didn't expect it too, showing another series of stupid writing. This show has had perfect writing from episode one, but they ruined it with the last 20 seconds of footage, with Dexter at a Lumber mill.

They aimed for a 'tear-jerking' ending, which happened to jerk no tears. Personally, I think it was a waste, they could have ended it so much better. They could have ended it with a collage of a million Doakes Faces spinning in circles, and it would have been better then this.
